The summer of 2025 brought another major win for Tbilisi’s growing global tourism image: Georgia’s capital has been named the most affordable city in Europe for international travelers, according to a newly published ranking by Bounce.com. Scoring 8.37 out of 10, Tbilisi took first place among Europe’s top ten budget-friendly destinations, standing out for its exceptional balance of cost and experience.
The ranking wasn’t built on guesswork. It relied on real cost factors that shape a traveler’s budget — hotel prices, meals, wine, taxis, public transport, and access to attractions. On every front, Tbilisi came out ahead of many European capitals.
According to Bounce’s data, a two-night weekend hotel stay in Tbilisi costs just €162, significantly below average rates in most EU cities. A three-course dinner for two is estimated at €78, striking a clear balance between quality and affordability. For wine lovers, the cost of two bottles averages just €13, placing Tbilisi in direct competition with Eastern European and Balkan destinations known for local wine culture. Meanwhile, a typical taxi ride costs under €3.90, and four single public transport tickets total just €1.28 — making urban mobility in Tbilisi impressively cheap.
The rest of the top ten list includes mainly Central and Eastern European cities like Oradea, Craiova, Timisoara, Budapest, Prague, Brno, Zagreb, Gdańsk, and Córdoba. The ranking covered 70 European cities, measuring not just costs of lodging and food but also the number of free attractions, where Tbilisi once again stood out.
Today, Tbilisi is the only European capital that offers an ideal combination of affordability and cultural richness, appealing equally to solo backpackers and family travelers. With accessible hotels, diverse flavors, a high level of hospitality, and the freedom to explore without breaking the bank, the city is redefining what budget-friendly travel can look like in Europe.
