During January-August 2024, over 67,000 tons of wine valued at $195.8 million were exported from Georgia, marking a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. In the corresponding period of the previous year, over 58,000 tons of wine were exported, exceeding $168.8 million in value. It is worth noting that the export price of Georgian wine, both this year and last, averaged $2.9 per liter.

The majority of Georgian wine, according to 2024 data, is sold in Russia. This year, Russia accounted for 69.4% of exports, an increase from 66.3% in the same period last year. The Russian market remains the main export destination, likely due to the stable demand for Georgian wine in Russia and less competitive conditions for Georgia.

Apart from Russia, Georgian wine is also exported to other key countries, including Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and China. Wine exported to Poland amounted to $10.08 million, equivalent to 4,081 tons. The volume of wine exported to Ukraine was 2,847 tons, valued at $7.87 million. Wine exports to Kazakhstan totaled $7.04 million, while those to China reached $5.64 million.

Each of these countries has different characteristics and needs, highlighting the importance of market diversification. For instance, Poland and Ukraine perceive Georgian wine as a unique product offering distinctive taste profiles to consumers. China, which presents significant growth prospects, views Georgian wine as a modern, high-quality beverage, though entering and competing in this market still poses challenges.
